My Artsy Mama

Today, I am so excited to introduce you to one of my favorite sources of inspiration ever…
my artsy mama!
Some of my earliest memories are of my mom making one project or another.  She taught me to sew, to bake, to decorate cakes, to cross-stitch, and to have a love for all things artsy.
She has taught countless Sunday School and Bible School classes…which is where many of my kid project ideas originated!  I have such fond memories of 4-H fair time each year when she would help me choose projects to tackle and watch me, providing guidance and encouragement from the sidelines.
And she continues to do it today.  I mentioned yesterday that she’s been sewing pillowcases for the ConKerr project, and she’s also been making some of the most fabulous, practical things for herself and her friends.  Bags, purses, and these really cute key fobs!
After begging her to make one for me, I also begged her to share the instructions in case you wanted to make one too.
MOM’S SUPER CUTE KEY FOBS
Materials: 3″ x 15″ piece of quilted fabric, 4″ piece of coordinating ribbon {1″ wide}, 1″ swivel clasp
Step 1: Fold fabric with right sides together and sew a 4/8″ seam.

Step 2: Turn right side out and press. Top stitch 2/8″ from each edge.

Step 3: Slide onto swivel clasp, overlap raw edges and cover with ribbon.

Step 4: Topstitch over edges of ribbon

And there you have it!
Thanks, Mom, for the tutorial. :)
And friends, what about you?  Who’s YOUR biggest crafting inspiration?

I for sure need one of those! What a cute Mom you have! My Mom didn’t do projects with me growing up, but she was a First Grade Teacher before she became disabled, and I think her love for children’s crafts just passed down to me from her. Great post!

You both look so adorable with your matching shirts! Pinning this for future Christmas gift ideas (we have a tradition of giving small gifts to ALL the people we work with so I need to think of Christmas gifts for around 30-40 people here at the office).

My mom is a crafty one too. I’d say about half of her Christamas tree ornaments are those she helped my sis and I make! I’m also blessed to have two crafty friends and one decidedly un-crafty one with a great fashion sense who inspire me.
