DIH Workshop Virtual Party

Thanks to Home Depot for sponsoring today’s post and the #DIH Workshop Virtual Party! All opinions are my own.Beverage Stand DIH Workshop

Friends, welcome to the Home Depot #DIHWorkshop Virtual Party!

I’m thrilled that you’re here! In case you’re wondering what this party is all about, twenty-five bloggers {myself included} were invited to create this month’s DIH Workshop project, and today is the big reveal where we each get to show you how we put my own spin on it! I actually finished it about two weeks ago, so it’s been driving me crazy not being able to show you until now…take a look!

Beverage Stand

Here’s a look at the original project image we were all given, a wooden Beverage Stand with two shelves and a circular cut-out on the top that’s just right for holding a 10 quart galvanized bucket full of ice and drinks. We were also provided with the same supply list and instructions that will be handed out at DIH Workshops all over the country on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM.

Each of us followed the instructions to create our own Beverage Stand at home, then were free to customize it in any we liked based on our own personal style. If you know me at all, you know that in my house you’re sure to find teal, grey, yellow, and geometric patterns. When it came to customizing my project, I went for what I love and what would match my house and outdoor space.

DIY Beverage Station

I decided before I even built my Beverage Stand that I wanted it to be teal, and I thought it would be fun to add some extra detailing by stenciling a quatrefoil pattern on the two lower shelves. To do this, I actually painted the shelves white to start, then stenciled the teal pattern on top. Sneaky, right? I am absolutely in love with the way it turned out and I think the patterned shelves give it so much character. I feel like it goes perfectly with my other furniture and with my style in general…and I think it’s so fun how easy it is to totally customize the look just by using a different paint or stain.

The DIH Workshops are free, demonstrative classes that will show you exactly what you need to know to make the featured project. Some stores feature a make and take option, where you actually get to create the project in-store, while others are demonstration only, but either way you’ll walk away with the skills to recreate the project at home. If you’re not sure which type of workshop your local Home Depot offers, you can always call and ask so you know what to expect.

Home Depot actually offers three types of Workshops at all of their locations: Do-It-Yourself (DIY), Do-It-Herself (DIH) and Kids. These Workshops are a great way to learn how to build décor projects, make easy home repairs, and operate tools through demonstrations and step-by-step instructions.

Find out more at https://workshops.homedepot.com and register for a workshop in your local Home Depot!
