Bible Crafts

Here are some of the crafts we've used to help illustrate the Bible stories Noah is learning.  More to come!

OLD TESTAMENT STORIES

JOSEPH and the coat of many colors:
To go along with the story, Noah made his own multilcolored t-shirt.
Materials:  plain white t-shirt, fabric paint in assorted colors, paintbrushes, paper bag
Instructions: We put different colors of fabric paint in a palette, gave Noah some brushes, and let him go to town on a white t-shirt.  Remember to put a paper bag inside the shirt before painting it, so that the paint doesn't bleed through.

MOSES and the burning bush
We made a stained-glass effect "burning bush" to help tell Moses' story.

Materials: black and brown cardstock, red/yellow/orange tissue paper, pencil, scissors, tape, string
Instructions: Sketch and cut out a stick bush from brown cardstock.  Lay it on top of black cardstock and lightly sketch flame shapes around the branches with a pencil.  Remove bush and set aside.  Carefully cut out the flame shapes without disturbing the rest of the black cardstock.  Tape colored tissue paper to the back of the image, being careful to cover the cut-out areas completely.  Glue brown bush to top side of cardstock.  Attach string and hang from a window.

ESTHER/PURIM
We made noisemakers to use when Haman's name is read.  For materials and directions see here.

DANIEL IN THE LIONS' DEN
Paper plate lion craft; see here for tutorial.

NEW TESTAMENT STORIES
ZACCHAEUS
To illustrate the story of Zacchaeus, we made a handprint tree and put magazine cutouts of Zacchaeus and Jesus, along with the letters of Z's name on it.  For full instructions, see here.

JESUS CALMS THE STORM
This boat craft also works for the story when Jesus walks on water or the miraculous catch of fish...basically any story where the disciples are on a boat.  Tutorial here.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
Quick and easy fruit bowl: add a fruit each day or week as you study the qualities.
