About Me

Hi, friend!  I’m so glad you stopped by today!  I’m Amy, aka One Artsy Mama.  In March of 2011, I started blogging with the hopes that my little piece of the internet would be a place where people could come to create, share, love, and inspire.  I sincerely hope that’s happening today!

Here’s a little bit about me:

I’m a wife, a mother, and an artist…which means I’m always busy and sometimes messy!  I have a B.A. in English from McDaniel College, and in April of 2013, I published my first e-book, Crochet 101.  Here at One Artsy Mama, I share a variety of project types including home decor, fashion, kids’ crafts, sewing, jewelry, crochet and more. In addition to posting on my own blog, I write for the Jewelry blog at Craftsy.com.

I stumbled into blogging when my son was two years old and I was looking for a creative outlet.  I didn’t thoroughly plan out my design, my mission, or what I was really all about.  A few years later, I decided {with the help of my fabulous mentor Sarah Hodsdon} to boil things down to the heart of what I wanted my blog to be.  The answer came in the form of a popular post I’d written about the Honestly Game.  My goal is to prove that none of us are perfect; we can be creative and awesome while still being totally human and making mistakes.  I’ve divided my content into several core categories: Honestly Doable, Honestly Relatable, Honestly Wearable, Honestly Edible, Honestly Teachable, and Honestly Accountable.  I’m so glad you’re along for the journey.

I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned so far in this blogging journey, so I started a Growing Together: Blogger Mentoring Program in January 2013.  Each session runs for 12 weeks, and I provide weekly readings, assignments, and one-on-one mentoring for up to twenty bloggers.  I was also a featured speaker for BloggyConference 2013 on the topic of Growing and Engaging Your Community.

I am happiest when creating something and enjoy making all kinds of projects with my 6 year old “Little Crafter.” In my spare time {if there ever is any!}, I am a professional ballroom, latin, and swing dancer.  When not on the dance floor or crafting, you can probably find me at Starbucks.

To contact me, feel free to post on my Facebook page or email me at dancers4life{at}gmail{dot}com.

If you are a company/brand looking to partner with One Artsy Mama, you can view my media kit for more information.

Hello Amy, I’ve enjoyed browsing through your blog! I have encountered a problem and wondering if you could help me with it. I found the link below on another blog and want to read the page thoroughly, but when I opened the page as “open in a new tab” or when I copy and paste the link in a new tab myself, the page stayed on my window for just a few seconds, then it redirects itself to your home page.

I’ve worked professionally with web site for numerous years, 5 years ago and backward, so perhaps not up with new technology but for the life of me, I cannot understand why it redirects to your home page, and I went to the blog on the date I found on the page and didn’t find anything referencing the topic. Below is the page I am trying to read, can you help me find a way so that the original page will stay up long enough for me to read it. Would appreciate any help. Thank you and thanks for all the inspirations I’ve found on your blog! – Lori

Hey, Lori! Sorry about your trouble; that’s a by-product of my switch from blogger to WordPress back in July…unfortunately some of the links didn’t redirect properly. But…here’s the post! http://www.oneartsymama.com/2012/01/love-is-subway-art.html Enjoy!!

Thank you! The link works perfectly! Now I don’t have to try to open one of the graphics in another tab at lightning speed before it redirected. It was ike aggravating a pet with a treat, like them doing what they were supposed to do, then act like you were going to give them the treat but taking it away at the last minute. LOL It is now letting me read the page at my leisure. Thank you for helping me!! Enjoy your site!

    Hi Amy,
I was surfing on the web, looking for some leather necklace ideas.. And I found your website. I must say I’m pretty impressed. You handle a huge range of artcrafts and the blog is easy to use and visit. I wish you the best! Greetings from France

    I Amy,
I found your site by searching “Spring Fashion 2015.” I am also a writer/wife/mom, and I’ve been trying to get fashion ideas that I can put into a diy column. Wish me good writing!
