Monogram Charm Bracelet with ImpressArt Letter Charms

I don’t know about you, friend, but I’m a huge fan of the expandable style charm bracelets. I have several Alex and Ani ones including a cross and an elephant, but sometimes I can’t find one with exactly the charm I want. So, I decided to create one of my own using a monogram stamping blank! Here’s how I did it, and you can too.

You’ll need:

Steel Stamping Block
Metal Stamping Hammer
ImpressArt 6mm Vertical Lines Design Stamp {or your favorite texture/pattern stamp}
ImpressArt Soft Strike Pewter Letter Charm
Jump Ring
Expandable Wire Bracelet
Jewelry Pliers

Creating Your Charm Bracelet

Step 1: Place the blank on your steel stamping block. 

Step 2: Hold the design stamp vertically on top of the blank and give the top of it a firm tap with your hammer.
This will create an impression on your blank. The harder you tap, the deeper your impression will be. For a more detailed photo tutorial on the basics of metal stamping, check out this post designed for beginners!

Step 3: Next, repeat, moving the stamp around the letter until the surface is covered with your design.

I chose to use lines for mine, but you can use any design stamp you like, including paisley, polka dots, hearts, etc.!

Step 4: Carefully open your jump ring by using pliers to twist the cut ends away from one another. 

You want to maintain the round shape of the ring, so you never want to pull the ends apart; instead, twist one end toward you and the other away from you.

Step 5: Thread the jump ring through the hole at the top of your charm. Place the bracelet wire inside the jump ring as well, then twist the ring shut.

Now, your bracelet is ready to wear!

If you like, you can add additional charms to the bracelet, like dangling beads or more letters. Just follow the same steps and attach them with jump rings. I wanted mine to be simple with just one focal charm, so I left it as is.

This project is a great starter piece for beginning stampers, because you don’t have to worry about the precise placement of letters! Design stamps are very easy to work with to create a pattern, and will give you a great feel for how metal stamping works. If you prefer to stamp a word or a date on your letter charm, you can absolutely do that too. That’s the beauty of projects like this; they can become whatever you’d like them to be!
