Caring for your Fancy Feline

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®, Litter Genie® and Fancy Feast®, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #Catparents https://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Fancy Feast

As a child, I never had a dog or a cat like many of my friends did because my both of my parents are allergic…a trait they also passed along to me. Then, I married a man with an allergy to furry creatures, which we thought pretty well sealed the deal that we’d never be pet owners, aside from our betta fish Mrs. Bubba. Although we knew that a furry friend would be great for Little Crafter {and for us too!} we had given up all hopes of it until one day last September when we went to our friends’ home for a fantasy football draft. To make a long story short, we found out that they had sort of inherited a cat {they were watching her while her owner was recovering from a stroke, then the owner passed away} but needed to rehome her. But she wasn’t just any cat, she’s hypoallergenic! Which means she produces no dander and also doesn’t shed at all! That means no allergies, no hairballs, and no mess on the furniture…my idea of the perfect cat! A day later, we took her home with us and she’s been a part of the Artsy Family ever since.

It really was love at first sight. Little Crafter named her Fuzzy and she is everything we could have ever wanted in a furry friend. She is gentle, affectionate {when she wants to be}, and has never once tried to hiss at, scratch, or bite anyone in our home including guests. She also happens to be a bit of a diva. She’s a fancy lady who knows what she wants and when she wants it, and she lets us know! Bengals have a very distinctive sounding “meow” which she employs when she wants something, usually her food. And we quickly learned that when she’s hungry, she wants something very specific. Turns out, her previous owner gave her Grilled Fancy Feast for every meal and she, being the fancy kitty she is, expects nothing less.

After all, she knows a good thing when she’s got it. Fancy Feast has been committed to preparing the most enjoyable gourmet meals for cats for more than 25 years. Every Fancy Feast selection is made with high-quality protein sources and ingredients, like chicken, beef, turkey, salmon, tuna, shrimp, whitefish, and more. We didn’t want to turn her world upside down, so we continue to care for Fuzzy by providing her with the food she likes. That means we go through a lot of Fancy Feast around here, so it’s nice when we can get a good deal on the 24-packs! She especially seems to prefer the Grilled Poultry & Beef variety and the Grilled Seafood variety, so we stick with those…I mean, I eat the things I like best, why shouldn’t she?

This week, I needed to stock up on Fuzzy’s food, so I was excited to take advantage of a special in-store Mix & Match Offer at Target:  Buy any TWO (2) Fancy Feast® – 24 pack OR Litter Genie® Pail/Refill and get a free Cat Toy or Friskies party mix cat treat.   Offer available 2/15/15 – 4/11/15 while supplies last.

I thought about just getting two packs of Fancy Feast {goodness knows she’ll eat it!}, but then decided it was the perfect opportunity to try out the Litter Genie Pail. I have some cat-owner friends who use and recommend it as a great way to reduce pet odor in your home, so I figured it was worth a shot! Once the refill bags are placed in the system, you just scoop the clumps of litter out of the litter box, open the lid and drop them into the Litter Genie, then pull the handle to help seal in waste and odors. The airtight design seals in smells even when the lid is opened, and the waste is sealed away for up to 14 days for one cat.

Since we bought both the Fancy Feast 24-pack and the Litter Genie, we also got to choose either a pack of treats or a specially marked toy to bring home free. I let Little Crafter pick, and he chose a set of catnip mice…which Fuzzy loves!

Some people might say Fuzzy is a little spoiled, but I’m okay with that. She brings so much joy to our family and is such a part of it now that I don’t mind giving her five-star treatment. In fact, we actually enjoy showing our love by giving her the very best…we waited a long time for her and now we’re fully enjoying having a cat in the family. She’s a fancy girl, but hey, so am I, so I can understand! I even recently made her a special pillow to lay on as kind of a joke since she’s our little diva cat. Mostly because she decided that my laptop bag was her bed and I needed her to give it back. Here’s how I did it, in case you want to make one for your own fancy feline {or yourself}!

“I’m So Fancy” Pillow

I'm So Fancy Pillow

Materials:
– 16″ {or any size} white pillowcase
– adhesive backed cardstock
– electronic cutting machine and software
“I’m So Fancy” Cut File
– fabric paint {black, pink, and silver}
– sponge/stencil brushes
– paper bag

Step 1: Cut out your stencil and place it on your pillow cover. I designed this one myself, and you are more than welcome to download it for free if you’d like to use it! Then, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out of adhesive backed cardstock. Once it’s cut, just peel off the backing and stick it in place, pressing firmly.

Step 2: Place a paper bag or newspaper inside the pillow cover. This will keep the paint from bleeding through to the back.

Step 3: Use sponge/stencil brushes to apply fabric paint. Allow it to dry completely for 24 hours.

Side note: Fuzzy came and sat with me the whole time I was making this project. It’s like somehow she knew it was for her, so she wanted to oversee the process and make sure I did everything exactly right. Doesn’t she look like a supervisor?

Step 4: Stuff the pillow. If you happen to have a 16″ pillow, you can just unzip the pillow cover and insert it…easy peasy. If you’re like me and are snowed in the house with only the things in your crafting stash {and a big pillow isn’t one of them}, you can fill it with polyfil instead.

You’ll be glad to know that this project is officially Fuzzy-tested…

…and Fuzzy-approved.  Is there any doubt who the queen is around here? It sure isn’t me these days.
