I (Erin) don’t know if you’ve heard, but there’s a certain “big football game” that will be played in a couple of weeks (sadly the journey for our beloved Ravens has ended). In anticipation for said game, I created a fun little toss game for the boys to play with during the game viewing and it works double time as a great math activity!

Materials:

-Large piece of green fleece (for field)

-Long piece of yellow fleece (for the goal lines)

-Brown, White, Yellow felt

-Hot Glue

-Beans

-Optional-Sewing Machine/Needle and Thread

Step 1: Cut football parts out of the felt. Below is what you need for ONE football.

Step 2: Hot glue the white pieces on to the football form.

Step 3: Sew football sides together. I decided to allow the seams to show because I liked the look, you’re welcome to do the ole “flip inside out” move though. Make sure to leave an opening for the beans! You can also hot glue if you don’t want to sew.

Step 4: Fill with beans. Seal up the opening (sew, glue).

I’m sick, let’s just move on. But first, look at my pretty football pileup. Football huddle. Football gathering?

Step 6: Cut out a large rectangle for the “field”. Completely optional, but I did a quick hem around the edges just to give it a more “finished look”. Plus my sewing machine was already out and it seemed bored.

Step 7: Cut out strips of yellow for the goal lines and field goal posts, and white numbers. Attach with hot glue. I only did three sections since my boys are younger, but you could easily do more to make the game harder.
