Framed Christmas Lyric

Framed Christmas Lyric

Merry Christmas One Artsy Mama readers! Amy and I(Erin) have a lot of differences, but we also have a lot of things in common, especially where it matters most. A funny thing we JUST found out that we have in common, is that we both share a favorite line in a Christmas hymn. “I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day” is already a powerful song, but there’s one line that really stands out to me, and I wanted to highlight it in my Christmas decor this year. I came up with this very easy, but wonderful statement piece, and I’d love to show you how I did it.

Framed Christmas LyricMaterials:

-Blue, Black, and White Card Stock (I used textured card stock because I like the different looks it achieves)

-White Vinyl

-Vinyl Cutter (You can cut the letters by hand if you don’t have one, but it’s pretty tricky)

-Glue Dots

-Black Frame (Mine was actually brown, but a coat of paint took care of that)

Step 1: Cut blue paper to fit frame.

Step 2: Cut the city out in black (I used my Silhouette), and cut a snowy hill in white. Use glue dots to attach to the blue.

Step 3: Use your vinyl cutter (or if you don’t own a vinyl cutter, alphabet stickers would work well) to cut out the wording. Transfer the vinyl words on to the glass part of the frame. I used painter’s tape to transfer the letters because it’s just as quick and a little cheaper then transfer paper. Oh, and here’s an “honestly” moment. I “honestly” didn’t want to use that font. I had an AWESOME font in the original design, but silly me, I forgot that the machine doesn’t like to cut super duper “skinny” fonts. Sad panda.

Step 4: Put the frame back together and enjoy!

I just love the way these lyrics make me feel, and the hope that they bring. I’m so glad I was able to find a way to make them a part of my decorations this year, though I’m a bit worried that Amy is going to come in the middle of the night and steal it (as she has already threatened many times. I mean stealing the lyric decoration, not the “come in the middle of the night” . She’s not a stalker.) Merry Christmas =)
