Hey, friends!  Are any of you planning to be a hostess-with-the-mostest this summer by throwing a fabulous party?  Maybe it’s a girls’ night in, a get-together for your neighbors, or a grown-up time to reconnect with other couples you know while someone watches the kiddos. Whatever the occasion, here are a few simple party decor ideas that are casual yet elegant…and super easy to make!

CASUAL ELEGANCE PARTY DECÓR

Recently, I got some big-time happy mail…a box from Darice Crafts filled with all kinds of goodies from the new David Tutera Casual Elegance product line, which is available exclusively at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.

See what I mean?  That’s the kind of mail that makes you want to stalk the FedEx guy until it arrives and then give him a big squeeze when it does!  Just look at all the goodies…lace and burlap “ribbon” in several varieties, burlap flowers, paper lanterns, chalkboard signs, paper favor boxes and napkin wraps, tiny baskets and buckets, adorable tags, and more!  I was seriously freaking out at all the creative possibilities!  The Casual Elegance Collection is designed and merchandised as bridal, but it can be used for just about anything!  I’ve already shown you my Nautical Soap Dispenser, made with one of the mason jars and one of the types of burlap ribbon, and I have another project to share with you next week too using some of these products.  But first, let’s take a look at how you can use these supplies to make some seriously gorgeous party decór, shall we?

Materials:
{per person}
– small mason jar
– burlap ribbon*
– baker’s twine
– wooden letter tile
– hot glue
– striped paper straw*
– lace ribbon*
– small wooden basket*
– doily*

* – from the Casual Elegance Collection

Step 1: Thoroughly clean and dry your jars.

Step 2: Glue one end of your burlap ribbon to the back of the jar.  Wrap jar, pulling somewhat tightly, and glue the other end.
Be careful if you’re using hot glue like I did, because it will come through the holes in the burlap. You may want to use a piece of paper or something else to put between your hand and the burlap when you’re pressing it down…just sayin’…

Step 3: Wrap baker’s twine around the top of the burlap ribbon several times. Tie tightly and trim the ends.

Step 4: Glue a wooden alphabet tile to the jar.  I thought this was a really fun personal touch; you can use each guest’s initial…not only is it a great favor for them to take home, but it will also help people identify their drinks while at the party.  Much more glam than using a marker on a red paper cup, eh?

All that’s left to do is fill those jars, add a paper straw, place them on a doily, and enjoy!

For snacks, I used the David Tutera wooden baskets and just cut two lengths of lace ribbon and placed them inside. I filled mine with a mix of cheddar popcorn and chocolate chips.

I absolutely love the way this turned out!  And there are even little printable labels you can use on the straws too, if you want.

What do you think?  Does it make you want to host a casually elegant party?  I sure do!

Hugs & Glitter,

siggy
