Spot of Tea Designs: Christmas Card Giveaway

Hi! I'm Tara and I'm so excited to be guest posting on One Artsy Mama, a blog I've been following and admiring for some time now! I blog at Spot Of Tea Designs where I share crafts, DIY projects, recipes, party planning tips, home decor projects and my other attempts to get creative.

As the holiday season is quickly approaching, I wanted to share some holiday inspiration today. For the last several years, I've been designing my own holiday postcards to send to family and friends. I plan ahead and get them printed in August through Vistaprint (yes, you can use them even if you aren't a business!) and get them addressed to send by December 1st. As an avid scrapbooker, I document most photo filled parts of my life, so I've made sure to document this other tradition I've developed, and scrapbooked each card on its own page in my scrapbooks.

In 2007, I created this "Ho Ho Hoot" owl design using color palettes inspired by a Martha Stewart magazine article then used the same colors in my simple scrapbook page.

In 2008, I began to take notice of all the stacked cake plates used in dessert table decor and the ever growing presence of cupcakes in the media and created this "Sweet Holidays" design. My black, red, green and pink color palette complimented this unique color combination.

 

Sadly, 2009 was the start of the economic downturn. I tried to make light of this situation with this "Classifieds" design featuring job descriptions of Santa, Frosty the Snowman and other lovable holiday characters. I went with the metallic theme when creating the coordinating scrapbook page to give it a little shine!

 

2010's design played off the "Holiday Snail Mail" term with this colorful design. Here, I reiterated the fact that it would be mailed and used an actual envelope on the page.

 

In 2011, I was inspired by my father-in-law's bird house wallpaper we spent hours removing from their kitchen and created this "Home for the Holidays" design. Once again, I used the color palette as inspiration, and let the holiday card be the star in this minimalist style scrapbook layout.

I share this with you today in hopes that you will find a unique way to document your family's holiday card in some way. Whether they're included in your family scrapbook, turned into a mini album dedicated to holiday cards, displayed on a photo collage in your living room or scanned into a digital photo frame that displays year round, find a way to document this tradition you are creating year to year.
