Monogram Pumpkin

Friends, it’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Artsy Land!  The forecast for this week doesn’t go above 68 degrees, which means it’s time for boots and sweaters and hot drinks at Starbucks!  And, of course…pumpkins!  We’re going to be heading to the pumpkin patch over the weekend, but I thought I’d pull out a pic of how I decorated mine last year.  I loved it so much, I’m pretty sure I’m going to do the same exact thing all over again.
POLKADOT MONOGRAM PUMPKIN
Materials:
– black and white outdoor acrylic paint
– paint brushes
– pencil
– raffia
All I did was sketch an “L” on my pumpkin in pencil {if you don’t feel good about freehanding, you can print your letter out on the computer, cut it out, and trace around it}.  Then, I painted the whole thing black and let it dry completely.  Once it was dry, I dipped the end of a fat paint brush in white paint and made random polka dots all over the letter.  I finished up by tying raffia around the stem.  That’s all there is to it; easy peasy!
It looked so cute on the porch, and even held up well despite a freak snowstorm the week before Halloween!  How often do you see a snowed-on pumpkin?!
What about you; what’s your favorite way to decorate a pumpkin?
Happy Fall!

  1. Oh thank goodness it is FINALLY time for hot drinks from Starbucks. Good thing you’ve been waiting so patiently for cooler weather (wink, wink). Pumpkin is really cute!

  2. Glad to hear it will be cool enough for all of the reasons we ladies love fall! Your pumpkin is soooo cute, and hopefully there won’t be any early snow this year 🙂

    Hugs, Tanya

  3. Love the pumpkin and am so jealous of the cold weather! It is supposed to be in the 90’s today, here in Texas! I can’t wait to make a pumpkin like this!
