Sheet Music and Mason Jar Centerpieces

So you all know I {heart} dancing.  And I think it’s the coolest thing in the world that I get paid to do it!  I absolutely love sharing my passion for dance with others and teaching them to enjoy it too, so I was thrilled when our church decided to put on a “Date Night Dinner Dance.”  We’re going to have a catered meal, I’m going to teach a Beginner East Coast Swing lesson, and then we’ll have some open dance time when people can enjoy great music and practice their new moves.

Of course, as with any party, it was a great opportunity for a little crafting too!  We needed centerpieces, of course, so I got together with two other girls from church and we made these.

SHEET MUSIC MASON JAR CENTERPIECES

I wanted something that would tie in with the dancing, so sheet music was a perfect choice.  When I searched Pinterest for sheet music centerpieces, I found this:

Then, as I continued browsing centerpieces, I found this:

I absolutely loved the heart cutout with the {battery operated} tealight inside to illuminate it.  Aaah!
So, I decided that we would replace the book pages with sheet music and make a combination of the two inspirations!  My friend Sarah had a bunch of mason jars left over from her wedding centerpieces, so she loaned them to us for the project.  She and Jenni painstakingly measured the circumference of the jars, made a heart template, and carefully cut out the hearts so they would line up on either side of the jar.  While I was picking up the pizza. 🙂

We took a dinner break {well, they did; I hadn’t done any work yet…haha}, then I tied the ribbons around the top.   Fellow musicians, please ignore the fact that the sheet music is upside down.  I didn’t notice it until I pasted the pictures in this post…oops!  I take no responsibility; remember, I’m just the pizza delivery girl!

Here’s how they look all lit up.

I can’t wait to see them on the tables!  I just love them as centerpieces for two major reasons, other than the cuteness factor.  One is that they involve no flowers {I’m allergic, plus they’re expensive!} and the other is that there’s no glue or anything else involved, so the jars are totally and easily reusable after the event.  Which is ever so important when we’re talking about mason jars, right?
Oh, and did I mention that these cost absolutely nothing
We had the jars, I printed the sheet music free online, the tealights belong to the church, and I already had the ribbon in my stash.  Woohoo for free crafting, friends!

We also made some coordinating table numbers that are oh-so-fun and dance-y, but I’m going to make you wait in suspense to see those another day!

‘Til then, Happy Crafting!

  2. Your mason jars with sheet music are SO cute! Not to mention, they’re affordable and would be easy to make. I hope you don’t mind if I borrow this idea to use for a Christmas gift to my daughter’s music teacher. Thanks for sharing-they really are precious!
