Lego Party: The Desserts

No party is complete without some sweet treats, right?  A good friend of ours {who is incredibly talented} is making the cake for us…and I can’t wait to see it!  But in the meantime, we’ve been busy making these cute desserts to go with it!

LEGO BRICK COOKIES
I first saw this idea somewhere on Pinterest, then again a few weeks ago when Making Memories linked it up to our Shine on Fridays party!
All you need to make your own is:
– cookie dough {either homemade or premade}
– rolling pin and cookie cutter
– cookie icing
– m&m candies
My mom was gracious enough to make up a batch of her delicious sugar cookie dough {we loooove these cookies at Christmas time}!   She and Little Crafter worked together to roll our the dough and cut it into rectangle shapes.

After the cookies were baked, I spread icing on each one, and my assistant helped to put six candies on top.  Did I mention that I love that he’s old enough to actually help with the party prep this year?!

We ended up with more blue cookies than anything else because for some reason we ended up having more blue m&m’s in the bag than any other color…which was ok with LC since blue is his favorite color anyway.  I wasn’t super thrilled with the shade of yellow the icing was, but oh well…it’ll do.

I think they’re super cute, and totally yummy too!

The other fun treat we made was inspired by these cake pops I saw at Living Locurto.
LEGO MARSHMALLOW POPS

For these cuties, you need:
– regular sized and miniature marshmallows
– lollipop sticks
– yellow candy melts
– dark chocolate melts
– treat bags and ribbon {optional}
To form them, I just stuck the marshmallows onto lollipop sticks.

Then, I dipped them in melted yellow candy, using a spoon to smooth it out.  Once they were hardened, I used a toothpick in melted chocolate to draw on the faces.

Other tutorials I saw talked about special pens you can use to write on them, but I couldn’t find one.  Once they were all finished, we put them in individual treat bags and tied them off with ribbon to match the other decorations.

I think they’re sooo stinkin’ cute!  I am loving this Lego theme…can you tell?
