Meet the Top 5: Amy

Ok, friends, today it's time to meet our final contestant in the "Top 5"!  You're probably expecting to see Melanie from Artzy Creations, who made some great projects for us in the previous rounds, but unfortunately she had to step down from the competiton.  Amy, from While Wearing Heels, was next in line for a spot in the Top 5 based on reader's votes for her gnome home {it got Little Crafter's vote!}, so she has stepped back in at the last minute.  Here's a quick reminder of Amy's crafty entries:

Here she is to introduce herself to you...

I'm Amy, from While Wearing Heels.  That's me below.

Because I suffer from a severe form of Crafter Attention Deficit Disorder SO does my poor blog. I find myself doing a lot of tutorials. What sort of a tutorial really depends on the week {kid's crafts, hair, home decor, how to extract a bento box cup from your dog after she has eaten one}. I like to share things I think are interesting or helpful and I hope to get that across with a few laughs thrown in.

Is it cheating to say, I couldn't live with out the internet as my craft supply. Don't answer that...I am sure it is BUT it's so true.  So many things I've seen on blogs and pinterest have exposed me to truly great ideas and some of those great ideas have led me to have my own great ideas.

I love something about every project I did during this contest.  The beads and MOD PODGE round pushed me out of my comfort zone, they are projects I never would have done otherwise.  BUT my heart lies with the gnome house.  I like making things that are playful and maybe a bit whimsical.  I loved being able to layer on the details like the button flowers and slatted shutters.

Maybe it's because of my love for fake food, I loved Repeat Crafter Me's Olive You Tutorial. I thought it was completely original and well executed.

Of course, I feel like every single blogger that has competed from the very beginning, has shown a lot of originality and creativity.  I feel humbled to have competed against such an amazing group of talented bloggers.

I have a confession to make, I don't drink coffee, which can explain why I am so tired all of the time.  My husband, who does make frequent trips to Starbucks, makes up for my lack of coffee drinking.  On the rare occasion I tag along, I am a sucker for one of their pastries, maybe a blueberry scone or a morning bun.

Travel, how I have missed you.  In my days before my sweet little girl, despite my fear of flying, I used to love to travel.  If I could go anywhere right now, I would have to pick London.  I know, I should say I want to see things like Big Ben, Windsor Castle or Eton College {which is a popular crossbook puzzle answer}, BUT I really want to experience the markets, like Portobello flea market and see things like this...

What I love most about crafting is that there are no rules.  You are free to create and express yourself however you please.  The result is something unique and original.  So in the end, whether your project wins you a prize, gets pinned hundreds of times, gets comments or not, what you have created by crafting is an expression, from whatever moment of time you are creating it in, and for nothing else, is something to be proud of.  One craft leads to the next, just like in life, one experience leads you to the next.

Once again, thanks for all your votes, your support and your sweet comments.

Thanks, Amy, {great name, isn't it?} and good luck!
Happy Crafting,
