Fu Manchu Fun

If you’ve been around One Artsy Mama for any length of time at all, you know that
this Artsy Family bleeds purple!  That’s right,
We heart the Ravens!
We all {including Little Crafter} are serious fans, and we really get in the spirit of things on Purple Fridays and game days…in fact, the one and only thing LC actually asked for this Christmas was a Boldin jersey!  You might remember that one of the absolute highlights of 2011 for me was when hubby and I got to go to a game in person the Sunday before Thanksgiving!
Well, if you follow sports at all, you might have heard the news,
the Ravens are just one game away from the Superbowl!
All that stands between us and the championship game is Tom Brady and the Patriots.  {Which, unfortunately, is no small thing.}  Truth be told, I’m a bit nervous about the match-up after watching both offenses play this past weekend, but I do think we can make it all the way!
ANYway, you can imagine the excitement in and around Baltimore right now!
And, love it or hate it, {I fall into the latter category}, B’more has major
Fu Manchu Fever!
Ever since November, our quarterback Joe Flacco, along with a few other members of the team like tight end Dennis Pitta and punter Sam Koch, has been sporting a {ridiculous looking} Fu Manchu just for fun.
If you watched the game, I’m sure you saw plenty of fans sporting their own versions, and believe it or not, there’s even an “official” faux Fu Manchu you can buy at Fanstache.com.  Apparently, it’s a $5 stick-on purple mustache that even helps out a local organization, Living Classrooms, by donating $1 of every sale.
The local media has been having a field day with it all, even going so far as to photo shop some very realistic looking fu manchus on B’more celebrities.  I thought it would be fun if the Artsy Family got in on the “Stache” Train and sported a couple of our own…
a little brown felt and a pair of scissors, and you have: Mini Flacco!
…and yes, he knows who Joe Flacco is.  He can tell you that Flacco is number 5 and he “fows” {throws} the ball.  He will also tell you that when he grows up, he’s going to be the kicker because Mama doesn’t want anyone to hit him without getting a 15 yard penalty and automatic first down.

My boys look pretty tough, don’t they?  Actually, hubby could just shave the bottom part of his goatee and he’d have the real deal {which he threatened to do, but I put an emphatic foot down!}
With the possible exception of Little Crafter, NObody looks good with the ‘fu.’
Myself most definitely included.  My attempt at a serious ‘man face’ is scaring even me…haha.  But, hey, it’s all in the name of fun and team spirit, right!  So, GO RAVENS!
Meanwhile, while you’re here today, be sure to stop by this week’s party and to enter the awesome giveaway for one of Creative Carmella’s gorgeous Blessed necklaces!  Have a great day and happy crafting!

Ha, I love it. I’m with you – not really a fu fan but this looks like great fun. At our house, we bleed black and gold (it’s hockey, no conflict, don’t worry) and we are super serious too. My nephew (who is only a little older than Little Crafter) loves to tell you what Big Z did last night (Zdeno Chara). It’s hilarious. Good luck getting past Brady. If cheering made it so, you’d be in the Super Bowl for sure!!!!

Congrats to your Ravens. The Pack apparently forgot to show up. Very disappointing. Good luck the rest of the way, their defense looked great!!

I agree Little Crafter looks pretty cute, but most can not pull that look off! Being a soccer player, I have a soft spot for kickers. So I’ll be cheering for him when he goes pro!

This is awesome! We’ve done felt mustaches at our house before but never the fu man chu. We’ll have to try it!
