Blessed {WIWS}

Those of you who are regular readers here at One Artsy Mama know that more often than not, I post about crafts and DIY projects, either for kiddos or for big girls.  Rarely do I share a recipe {most of my best meals come out of boxes}, and I don’t often post about fashion or share what I wore on any particular day…although if you’re wondering, it’s my Ravens jersey every Sunday and often on “Purple Fridays” too.
But, today, you’re in for something a little different.
I’m going to share with you What I Wore Saturday {night} because I was excited about it for three reasons.

Reason 1: I took a fashion tip from Lucky and it worked!
In a recent issue, I read that for the holiday season, you should combine two pieces you normally wouldn’t put together…do something more classic and “serious” on top, and a “party” on the bottom.  So, I paired my favorite black cowlneck sweater with a really fun chiffon-y hot pink skirt.  I kept it wintery by adding my boots and added a little “holiday” feel by choosing black tights with silver sparkles {not like you can tell}.  What do you think?

Reason 2: The occasion was a fancy birthday dinner out at one of my fave restaurants with my boys.  Aren’t my dates the cutest ever?
{Nevermind that Little Crafter refused to eat any of the spaghetti with sausage and garlic bread he insisted on ordering because apparently it wasn’t as good as Mommy’s.}
Reason 3: {This is the biggie}  My main accessory was this “Blessed” necklace made by one of my sweetest, best bloggy buddies, Carmella, and it is helping to buy coats for needy children.
If you haven’t heard about these yet, you really need to check out her recent post here.  She felt compelled to help a boy who she saw each day getting off the bus without a coat.  After praying for the means to help, she received an order for a bunch of these necklaces and recognized it as God’s answer.  Now, she donates the proceeds to buying coats for children.  What an inspiration!
To get your own {for just $6!}, go to Carmella’s shop.

So, what do you think of the outfit?
Black sweater: NY&Co
Pink Skirt: Old Navy
Glitter tights: NY&Co
Heeled boots: Belk
Necklace: Creative Carmella
Earrings: Poppi shop

Meanwhile, right now, I’m in…you guessed it…my jersey and jeans, getting ready for an 8:20 game!  GOOOOO RAVENS!
*Update: 12-19 – Carmella says that so far she’s been able to buy 10 coats thanks to necklace sales.  She’s on a brief hiatus until after Christmas so she can finish her family’s gifts and enjoy some time with them.  She will be taking more orders for them in the new year, though!  Oh, and no comment about the game…:(  Waaah.*

    You look so pretty…I love the bright pink with the black. I had tried to get one of the necklaces earlier today, but it said they were sold out… :)
    Maybe I will keep trying…
    Enjoy the game.

    Amy! How beautiful you are inside and out! I love the outfit, and I am so happy to see you proudly wearing your blessed necklace! Thank you so much for your support and encouragement….I was able to buy 10 coats to deliever today…the response was amazing! I had to go ahead and close them out of the shop for the week because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the orders, and they wouldn’t arrive by Christmas. I will keep going with this for sure, it has truly been a blessing to our family also, I now have two little kiddos who know what it means to give freely in the name of Christ…it’s been wonderful! Merry Christmas to you sweet friend!

    I would never have thought to pair that combo either and you look fabulous. I love the boots and the flirty skirt. Very nice. (funny about the spaghetti not being as good as yours).
