This week at One Artsy Mama, we're talking about five ideas for memorable homemade holiday gifts. Here's what we have so far:
3. Family Jewelry
Do you have a mom or a grandmother who has everything? Here are a few ideas for some jewelry that will touch her heart this Christmas.
Even if you've never made jewelry before, you can create a birthstone bracelet by stringing crystals that represent the birth month of each family member. For detailed instructions, see my guest post today at Sunny Vanilla!
Another great project even if you're a first time jewelry maker is this ring using a photo of a child's artwork. All you need is a ring blank, a small photo of whatever artwork you want to use, some scissors, and Mod Podge Dimensional Magic. Click here for my full tutorial.

You can also substitute sheet music if the recipient is a music-lover, or a page from a dictionary or other book.

Of course, using a photo is always a great way to personalize a piece of jewelry. All you need is your picture and a photo charm. More advanced jewelry makers can add a birthstone as well.
Although it will surely have a very different look, if you want to get your Little Crafter{s} in on the jewelry making action, just give them a bucket of beads and a string and let them do their thing. My Little Crafter made me this bracelet {he knows purple is my favorite color!} and it is a treasure indeed. He also made his friend Ava a special necklace for her second birthday and her mommy says she rarely takes it off except to sleep!
Any kind of jewelry that represents someone's family is always a treasure. These pieces in my Etsy shop are designed to do just that: peas in a pod, bird nests, family birthstone necklaces, and even necklaces to represent an only child like Little Crafter! Make your own version, or, if you're not into wire wrapping, I'd be happy to create a one of a kind piece for you.

I hope that gives you some ideas for the ladies in your life!
What's your favorite or most meaningful piece of jewelry?
