Last week, I was blown away by all the fantastic ideas you gals linked up to the Kids' Craft Challenge! Now, thanks to you, I have a huge to-do list! The first project Little Crafter and I tackled from the party was a popsicle stick puzzle that was linked up by Flip Chick Designs. It's simple, fun, cheap, and we already had everything we needed to make it {which was important since we were stuck at home waiting for the 'bug man' to come take care of our ant problem}.
The original puzzles Flip Chick Designs linked up were cute little Fall designs.
I thought they were adorable! But I also thought it might be fun to try using a photo instead.
I picked this picture from when we went pumpkin picking last weekend. I thought Little Crafter would enjoy seeing himself in the puzzle and that the tree and hay backdrop would be just challenging enough for his age and ability level.
I printed out the photo, we cut it into strips, and glued the strips to wooden craft sticks. {Ours were the wooden skill sticks that came in our rainy day kit from our friends at Craftprojectideas.com}. For a really great step-by-step photo tutorial of how to do that, check out the original post at FCD.
Then, we mixed up the sticks...
...and started putting the puzzle together starting with the easy part, us!
He thought it was awesome to be the star of his own puzzle. I thought it was fantastic that it cost me absolutely nothing. For a puzzle-lover like Little Crafter, this is a great idea; he can get new ones practically for free whenever he gets bored with {or too good at} the ones he has already.
Ta-da!
What about you? Have you attempted any of those great projects? Did you check them out?
