There’s No Place Like Home…

There’s no place like home…except the beach!  As I’m sure you know, we just got home from a wonderful vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC.  It was the most fun trip we’ve taken since Little Crafter was born; he’s finally at just the right age to enjoy everything!  Here’s the view from our balcony:
As Noah said, while sitting out there one morning, “I love to look at da ocean.  It’s bootiful.”  It sure is.
I have so many things to share with you; I can’t wait to tell you all about the cool coffeehouse we visited, Little Crafter’s experience at Build-a-Bear, meeting a racecar driver, and the amazing hands-on Babar exhibit at the local art museum.  And I promise to do all of that over the next few days.  But first, I can’t help myself.  I have to share our family portraits with you.  Each year, I look forward to getting some great photos on the beach.
We used to have a professional do it, but that gets costly, and a certain little someone refused to smile for someone he didn’t know.  So, the past 2 years we’ve used the trusty Nikon to get our own shots.  We were leaving Saturday, and I didn’t want to wait till the last minute, so we tried to do a shoot on Thursday night.  Every time I took the camera out, it fogged up.  I’d clean the lens and by the time I put it up to shoot again, it was fogged.  Again.  It was so bad that the inside mirror was fogging up too!  I was actually afraid I’d damaged the camera…which was not a happy thought!  Fortunately, it went back to normal inside, and we decided to get our pics on Friday night.  Of course, a storm decided to roll in.  This is what it looked like when we walked onto the beach.
Yeah.  Crazy.  I love how you can see the storm line.
Fortunately, with the help of that little bright bit over the horizon, taking shots that didn’t include sky, and my fabulous photo editor, you’d never know, would you?
In this one, he had sand on his hands and refused to open his fists…he’s a little OCD about having messy hands and feet.
These are two of my favorites.
Lifeguard chairs make great props!
I could go on all day showing you pictures, but I suppose I’ll hop off for now since I have some work to do prepping for a certain someone’s birthday!  Have a fabulous day and be sure to stop by tomorrow to hear more about our trip!
