Birthday Boy

Three years ago today, God gave me one of the best gifts I’ve ever received: Little Crafter.
He was the answer to so many prayers and continues to bring more joy to our lives than we ever imagined.  I can’t believe how much he’s grown and how quickly the time goes…in some ways it feels like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital, and in other ways I can barely remember what it was like before he came into our home and our hearts.
Here he is with BoBo the Bear at three days old and at almost-3 years old with the same friend.
Apparently BoBo is shrinking.

I am so proud of this little man; not only do I love his smile and his big blue eyes, I love the sweet, loving, generous and kind heart God has given him.  He’s not perfect, that’s for sure, but he has a gentle spirit and is learning more each day.
To celebrate his big day, we {of course} had to do a few special things.  First of all, Little Crafter decided that he needed a birthday shirt.  He’s had one every year, but I hate buying them because he can only wear them once when they say something like “Birthday Boy.”  We decided to make our own this time and just to put his age on it so that he could wear it not just on his actual birthday, but all year long!
BIRTHDAY SHIRT
Materials: plain t-shirt in any color, fabric paint in variety of colors, paint brushes, scissors, tape, computer paper, access to computer and printer
STEP 1: Type and print the child’s age number in a large, clear font.  We used Arial Black, size 580.
STEP 2: Cut out printed number to form a stencil and tape to the center of prewashed t-shirt.  Be sure to put cardboard or newspaper inside the shirt before painting.
STEP 3: Let child paint inside the stencil as desired.

STEP 4: Let dry and remove stencil.

He is so excited to wear it and let everyone know it’s his big day!
When it comes to birthday cake, Little Crafter just wasn’t interested.
He hates chocolate and usually doesn’t like cake very much, so I figured we might as well make something for his special day that he’d actually enjoy.  When I asked him what special dessert he wanted, his answer was no surprise.  Cookies.  With blue icing.
He’s thrilled.  Which is just as it should be.
Hubby took the day off so that we could celebrate together as a family…more on our fun activity later!
Happy, Happy Birthday to my special little man.
