Today was Day 1 of Vacation Bible School for Noah, and for this Artsy Mama who volunteered to teach the 2&3 year old class. I have three of the most adorable boys in the entire world: Noah, Jaxon, and Ethan. Tomorrow, we're supposed to have one more friend join us, and if he's anything like these guys, I can't wait to meet him!
Our story for today was Jesus' birth and his trip to Jerusalem at 12 years old {the time Mary & Joseph lost Him for a few days, only to find that He was in the temple debating with the rabbis}. Here are my guys building a temple of their own. :) This year, we have a beachy theme, which is why we have the towels out.
We did lots of activities, sang LOTS of songs, and made several fun things, one of which is the ever-important spillproof placemat that they can use the rest of the week during snack time.
SPILLPROOF PLACEMAT
MATERIALS:
Colored construction paper
Printed prayer
Stickers
Glue
Crayons
Clear Contact Paper
INSTRUCTIONS:
Color on prayer paper if desired and glue it in the center of your construction paper. Decorate with crayons and stickers. Cover front and back with clear contact paper and trim edges.
Noah made a sample for me last week, and he is just thrilled with it. We have to use it at every meal, so I can attest to the fact that it's stood up to the mess test. Apple juice, cranberry juice, yogurt...everything wipes off of this wonderful placemat.
Here are the ones the boys made this morning. Jaxon's is red, Noah's is the blue one {could you guess?}, Ethan's is orange, and we made a yellow one for our friend who will be coming tomorrow so he doesn't feel left out.
...and here's Noah taking me very literally when I said we were going to "eat off of our placemat." Oy.

i love making placemats!! what a fun way to personalize meal times! the things that you do with Noah are just wonderful! what a great man he's going to be.... thanks for linking up this week to tip-toe thru tuesday! hope to see you this week!
