I absolutely love being a mama. But sometimes, a little girl time is good for the soul. Today, 3 of my besties came over {and one brought her cousin-in-law too} for some pizza and jewlery making. It always inspires me to see what other people make. I love looking at the variety of beads and designs and techniques everyone uses. I thought you might like to see some of the beautiful creations too. I couldn't post them all...I forgot to take pics of some, and a few of the pics turned out really fuzzy, but here's what I've got and a little bit about the beautiful ladies who made them.
MEET "SHORT" JESS
Loves: pizza, chocolate, strombolis, the beach, good books, and cool jewelry
Summer plans: celebrating her 6th anniversary later this month, has a baby due on August 19
Jewelry-making experience: lots; she's the one who taught me and got me hooked!
Standout quality: compassion for others and a desire to help/serve
Here's some of what Jess made today.
These gorgeous chandelier earrings are actually a present for me! She made me a pair for Christmas but she used hematite beads by accident, which are magnetic, and they did goofy things when they were in my ears. So, she switched out the beads for me to make them wearable again...yay!
One of Jess' big projects right now is making cancer awareness bracelets as gifts for those who are suffering from various types of cancer, are survivors, or are loved ones of cancer patients. Apparently, each type of cancer has its own "awareness color;" this one is pearl to represent lung cancer. Her hubby's Uncle Jay was recently diagnosed, and this particular bracelet and earring set is a gift for his wife. Isn't it beautiful? I love how she's using her talents to bless others who are in need of some cheer and encouragement.
MEET "TALL" JESS
Favorite Color: green
Special Talents: photography {she and her hubby take the most breathtaking pictures!}, making delicious baked desserts...her pumpkin bread is amazing, graphic design and photo editing
Jewelry-making experience: none before today
Here's what she made today:
I think the green and white look so summery and fun!
I absolutely love the beads she used here. It's fun to see how different the same design can look with different colors and beads; this has a totally different feel from the green set. Can you believe she's never done this before? But, she's an artist; no wonder she's got an eye for it!
MEET APRIL
Favorite things: shopping, fashion, scrapbooking, spending time with friends, the beach, random pictures, big fun earrings
Summer plans: going to Creation Festival
Favorite store: New York & Company
Jewelry making experience: today was her second "lesson"
Here are some of her creations:
This bracelet matches the necklace we made for her last week.
The different colors of these cracked glass beads make her anklet look so fun and summery.
I thought these earrings were really original. The color is great too; royal blue beads are always so pretty.
MEET STELLA
Interesting info: Is currently a librarian, but not for long. She's taking the plunge to be a writer and already has an idea for her first adult fiction book.
Jewelry making experience: considerable
Six degrees to One Artsy Mama: Stella is the first cousin of Short Jess' husband, Matt
Here are some of her creations:
My favorite of Stella's creations has to be these earrings. She used the technique we've been employing for necklaces, bracelets, and anklets to make a pair of matching earrings. Awesome!
I like how she made the little dragonflies "fly" the right way instead of being sideways.
...and then there's this artsy mama, AMY
Favorite things: dancing, the beach, creating things, family time, singing, shopping, reading, ice cream, photo editing, Starbucks
Jewelry making experience: about a month and a half
Secret wish: to be on So You Think You Can Dance
And here's what I made:
Simple, but I'm crazy about the beads!
This bracelet isn't finished yet; I didn't have enough beads...but at least it's a start. :)
Technically, I made bracelet this yesterday, but I hadn't posted it yet and thought it was cute.
Thanks to the girls for the fun time, great conversation, and wonderful inspiration! Let's do it again soon!
Hope you all are having a great weekend.
