Today is Day 2 of our stay-at-home-and-take-cool-day-trips vacation. I officially declared day 1's activity a success when Noah wanted hand-picked strawberries for breakfast, devoured them, and asked for more. Today's plan was a trip to a somewhat local waterfall and state/national park. There are trails to hike, one in particular that works for even the littlest legs, a big lake, a great picnic area, and lots of fun things to do and see. The best part is, on weekdays in the off season, it's FREE to get into even the state park part! Woohoo! Free Family Fun! Here are some pics {sorry in advance for posting a million of them!}
We had a picnic next to this pretty lake.
Kisses by the lake. <3 I. am. in. love.
It didn't take long for Noah to decide that throwing things in the water was super fun. Check out the big stick mid-air! Good throw, Boo-Bear!
Then, it was time to do the hike to see the waterfall. It's a mile round-trip...lots of walking for little legs especially since it's mostly uphill on the way there. At least that means it's downhill coming back...
Daddy taught Noah to be "King of the Rock."
We made it to the falls!
Noah took this picture. Really. He did. He stood on a wooden bench and took it. The kid's a genius.
After we saw the falls, we headed to a different trail in the national park part; 0.6 miles round trip and much more flat. It runs next to a creek the whole way, so it took us forever because Noah kept stopping and wanting to throw rocks in the water. At the end of the path? An old still. Apparently, when the police found it, it was a huge commercial type operation.
I can see it now...one day he's going to take this photo in to school for show-and-tell and say, "When I was two, my Mommy and Daddy took me to see a still." Oy.
We also spent some time on a playground they had in the state park area and lounging by the lake.
Could he possibly be any cuter? Nope. Didn't think so.
The funniest part was that Noah, who was too excited to eat a ton of food during our picnic lunch, decided he was ravenous by the time we hit the second trail. We gave him puffies and cheerios to munch on {you can see the snack bag in one of the pics}. He ate all of those, then got back to the car and declared that "Noah still hungwy." I gave him the rest of the cheerios. He devoured them. "Noah still hungwy." I gave him a bag of yogurt drops that was about 1/4 full. Gone. "Noah still hungwy." I gave him a Special K bar. "Noah still hungwy." He would have eaten the entire way home if I hadn't run out of food! He IS his daddy's son!
Well, what a fantastic, fun, FREE day with my favorite boys. Hope your day was just as wonderful.
